In the late 1970s, a California brewery known as the Grapefruits opened a brewery in Fresno, California.
The first Grapefruit beer, the Imperial IPA, was introduced in 1974 and, along with a slew of other beer styles, it was one of the first American breweries to offer grapefruit-flavored beer.
In 1982, the company sold its first craft brewery in the United States to a company called Golden Road Brewing.
Golden Road is now the largest craft brewer in the world, and it has grown into a brand that has become a cornerstone of the local craft beer scene.
